Going Deep

Are you a serial freebie consumer? Do you devour blog post after blog post of free advice? Do you sign up to every free webinar, download every free ebook, and jump on every freebie you can get your hands on?

If so, then you could be doing yourself and your business an injustice. Here’s why:

If all you ever consume are the freebies – the cheap often superficial and introductory versions of a solution – then you risk never going deep.

And going deep is where true, sustainable business success lies.

Going deep means:

  • Getting to the core of your business – finding the best revenue models, the best marketing strategies, the best delivery models and the best work practices. The ones that appear to work effortlessly for you and your business.
  • Getting to the heart of your customers & clients – figuring out who they are, what makes them tick, what keeps them awake at night and how you can best serve them. The ones who appear, as if by magic, and fit you and your business perfectly.

But you can only ever get to a limited depth when you’re hopping around from one freebie to the next, listening to too many people and exposed to too much advice…without ever taking things that step further. That little bit…deeper.

And it’s not the fault of the content creators and providers either. It’s not that we’re holding back with our freebies and introductory offers. It’s not that we’re unable to deep dive into your specific business either…

Most professionals worth their salt give so much more value beneath the surface – once you dig that little bit deeper – that what you see on the surface is often the proverbial tip of the iceberg.

Take ONE K in 1 Day for example…

It was a global event I organised last year to help up to 1,000 women entrepreneurs get a WordPress website up and running on the same day.

Five months later, some participants are still struggling. They’ve got so far but not much further. Others have got to the next rung on the ladder. And others still are flying. The difference?

Those who dove deep, went those few steps further and invested in additional support and guidance for their specific business are now the proud owners of truly effective websites which work.

Here’s what Louise – one of the ONE K participants – said recently, having just invested that little bit extra to move her website & online business forward…

Within 24 hours of joining, I have moved forward significantly with my website. Most importantly for me, I have been shown what to do so I can be self sufficient & do it myself. So Very Worth It.

And the people who are still struggling?

They’re trying to do it on their own, working through free stuff and going round and round in circles. They’ve not gone deep yet. They’re consuming generic, one-size-fits-all advice which moves them no further along with their own venture.

When you stay at the surface, you risk building a business based upon superficial, shaky foundations…a business forever subject to your own chopping & changing decisions, based upon the opinions and advice of the latest people whose freebies you’re currently consuming.

Are you ready to go deep? Then take a deep breath and dive in…
